The first store to start sales in Japan will be the Harajuku Softbank Store, sales starts at 7 AM Tokyo time. At 12 noon other Softbank stores will start iPhone sales. For those that want to be the first in Japan to get an iPhone 3G a line has been growing since Tuesday. I visited the Harajuku Softbank Store tonight (the night before sales start), to see for myself how the line looks. There is an increased number of security guards making sure the people don't block the flow of traffic on the sidewalk, the security guards have placed dividers around the people waiting in line to prevent people from accidentally stepping on the people in line or bumping into them. By my rough estimate there were approximately a little over 100 people waiting in line. I bet Schomer is glad to see this kind of response to the iPhone 3G. If you are wondering, do I plan to get one, the answer is no. I already have an iPod Touch and I prefer the flexibility and openness of the S60 devices that I work on at Nokia rather than the closed structure that Apple offers with the iPhones.
Here are a few photos of the line and 2 videos at the bottom of this post recorded with my Nokia N82.
